A familiar face returned this week to the Westport Arts Center as gallery director and education coordinator.

Anne Lanford took up the post Monday after a year at Harvard University’s Graduate School Education, where she earned a Masters in Education in the school’s Arts in Education program.

Before beginning her studies, Lanford had spent two years at the Center as gallery coordinator.

In her newly-defined role, Lanford is in charge of the Center’s art exhibitions and artists’ programs. She will also focus on developing its growing arts education and community outreach programs.

Lanford’s first program will be a “Walk and Talk” Sunday at 3 p.m. She will give a tour of “In Situ,” the Center’s current exhibition of installation art. It is free and open to the public.

A resident of Oxford, Conn., Lanford is a graduate of Williams College, where she studied art history. She is an avid ceramicist, snowboarder and runner.
