Eugene C. Kappus, 91

Eugene C. Kappus of Westport died Jan. 25 in the Westport Health Care Center. He was 91.

A longtime resident, he was the husband of Betty R. Kappus.

He was born in Greenwich on July 3, 1923, the son of the late Carl and Anna (Ruckstuhl) Kappus. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II.

He loved the beach, square dancing and was a member of the Southport Squares. He was also an avid camper, traveling with his wife to all lower 48 states.

Survivors in addition to his wife Betty include two sons; Karl Kappus and his wife Becky of Albuquerque, N.M., Kurt E. Kappus and his wife Sherri of Salt Lake City, one daughter; Lisa Boone and her husband Jonathan of Westport, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was pre deceased by one brother; Charles Kappus and two sisters; Ruth Gurnee and Annette Hawes.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East.
