A Hartford-based electrical contracting company has served notice on the Town of Westport that it is seeking more than $1 million for what it contends is nonpayment for labor services in the recent rebuilding and expansion project at Staples High School.
Electrical Contractors, Inc. (ECI) said the town directed ECI to perform additional work “outside the scope of the contract,” but refused to pay the company for the extra work, according to papers filed with the Town Clerk.
ECI is seeking $1,068,047 plus interest and legal costs.
Town Attorney Ira Bloom said the town had fulfilled its obligations with ECI.
