Donald J. Nazzaro, Sr. 87

Donald J. Nazzaro, Sr. of Westport died July 15 in Bridgeport Hospital. He was 87.

The husband of the late Dorothy (Decker) Nazzaro, he was born at home in Saugatuck and has been a lifelong Westport resident. He was a 1948 graduate of Staples High School.

Prior to retiring, he worked as a licensed plumber in Westport and following retirement, he worked as a Town of Westport employee and a beach guard. He was also a longtime member of Westport PAL. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Stanton and her husband William of Shelton; one son, Donald J. Nazzaro Jr. of Stratford; three grandchildren Jessica Kaesmann and her husband Evan, Christopher Nazzaro and his wife Natasha and Michael Nazzaro and one niece, Susan Sterling.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 18 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East. Friends are invited to attend the funeral Wednesday, July 19 at 9:30 a.m. from the Harding Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in Saint Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road North for a Mass of Christian Burial, interment with military honors will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, Main Street.
