Ellison called the debates an important opportunity to focus attention on issues long overlooked by his eight-year unchallenged opponent, Republican Judith Freedman.
Beginning with a ғMeet the Candidates Night on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cider Mill School in Wilton, Ellison will square off against Freedman in a series of four public forums.
Subsequent debates will take place on Monday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the New Canaan Library; Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7:45 a.m. at Ridgefield High School, and Monday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Westport Public Library.
All of the debates will be moderated by the League of Women Voters.
We are very excited about these upcoming debates,Ӕ said Ellison. Because the 26th state Senate seat has not been challenged since 1996, constituents of this district have been deprived of the opportunity to hold their state senator accountable for many critical issues affecting our district.”
ConnecticutӒs 26th state Senate district includes all or part of the towns of Westport, Wilton, Weston, Ridgefield, New Canaan, Redding, and Bethel.
