County Assembly and Red and White Ball Signups Saturday

The 69th County Assembly Charity Ball and Red and White Charity Ball Committees are holding information sessions and signups Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Westport’s Toquet Hall.

The committees will be collecting names and addresses of Westport junior and senior girls who wish to receive an invitation to subscribe to these dances, an announcement said.

Due to liability issues, the invitations to these dances can no longer be mailed directly to the junior and senior girls from an official Staples’ class list, organizers said.

The names generated from signups at Toquet Hall will determine this year’s list. Formal invitations will be mailed on Nov. 9.

Organizers said given their lack of control of postal delivery, this year’s ticket distribution for the dances will be determined by lottery and not on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All responses need to be postmarked by Nov. 20 to be included in a random drawing to be held on Nov. 27, supervised by an independent source.  Tickets will be mailed to invitees by Dec.  4.

In the case of over subscription, the wait list is determined by the placements of the random drawing. Those girls placed on a wait list will be contacted by Dec. 4 and girls will move up the wait list as additional tickets become available.

The County Assembly Ball for juniors will be held on Jan. 12 and the Red and White Ball for seniors will be held on Jan. 5. This is not a Staples High School event, organizers said.
