The Compo Beach Site Improvement Committee will present its recommended draft of a master plan to the Parks and Recreation Commission Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium, Charlie Haberstroh, chairman of the Parks and Recreation Commission, announced today.
Haberstroh said residents can view the full draft of the master plan online prior to the meeting, at www.compobeach2.com.
“The commission will receive a full presentation of the draft plan and have the opportunity to hear comments from the public,” Haberstroh said. “Given the public’s interest in the Compo Beach plan to date, the meeting will be televised to permit as many people as possible to view the presentation.”
He said the commission will not make any recommendations that night, but will follow with an October public work session closed to public comment.
“It is important that the commissioners have sufficient time to digest the recommendations of the committee and the public input,” Haberstroh said, adding that there will be a subsequent meetings in late October or early November.
First Selectman Jim Marpe underscored the importance of the master plan, calling Compo Beach a crown jewel in need of “on-going care and attention.
“It has been several decades since the town has made any serious investment to enhance this tremendous asset,” said Marpe.
“There are many steps ahead and much opportunity for future input, discussion and modification, beginning with this presentation to the Parks & Recreation Commission. It is important for all points of view to be heard.”
