Claire Ann Kinney

Claire Ann Kinney (née Dehler) of Norwalk, a former employee of Brooks Brothers in Westport, died Feb. 23. 

She was born and raised in Richmond Hill and summered in Breezy Point, Queens, where she met her future husband, the late James E. Kinney.  She was the daughter of the late John and Claire Dehler.  She graduated the Academy of St. Joseph in Brentwood, L.I. and the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J.

She raised her family of seven children in Greenlawn, N.Y, where she resided for more than 30 years.  She was an avid tennis player, girl’s soccer coach and was active in a bowling league.

After moving to Connecticut in 1995, she enjoyed working at Brooks Brothers in Westport until her retirement.  She taught religious education and enjoyed playing pickleball, bridge and taking care of her cat.

She is survived by her five daughters, Patrice Lisy (Paul), Claire-Anne Meskers (Casey), GraceAnn McGrath (Leo), Kerin Donnino (Rocco), Miriam Hoban (Martin), and two sons, James (Ann Marie) and Patrick (Eileen) as well as 21 grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Igoe, brothers, John, Martin (Barbara) and William (Kathleen) and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John Igoe and her Godson, Gregory Dehler.

Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk.  A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 28, at noon in St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk.
