Arts Center to Open Student Art Show

The Westport Arts Center will hold its 2007 Student Art Exhibition June 9-17, and there will be an opening reception on Saturday, June 9 at noon-2 p.m.

The exhibition will feature artwork by students from Westport, Norwalk and Bridgeport.

The majority of the artwork on display will work by 19 high school juniors and seniors from Staples High School and Greens Farms Academy.

They include Erica Adler, Ben Bangser, Emily Black, Nick Burrows, Lindsay Chandler, Kylie Collins, Will Denton, Jaclyn Foster, Flora Greenberg, Lauren Gesswein, Brendan Lee, Audrey Miller, Scott Ritchie, Pillip Seo, Austin Arnold Siegert, Sarah Steinmetz, Zach Smart, Stephanie Urist and Alex Vincent.

Featured artist Nina Ventura has just finished her junior year at Rhode Island School of Design.

Also on view in the student exhibition will be work by seventh and eighth graders from the Bridge Academy in Bridgeport and work by fifth through eighth graders from the Side by Side Community School in Norwalk.

Their work was completed through the Westport Arts Center Connections Outreach program, which connects teaching artists with students in area schools.

The exhibition will also include an opportunity to view the winning films from the 2007 Westport Youth Film Festival.
