WestportNow.com Image
The Westport Arts Center tonight hosts its first one-night pop-up exhibit, “Nica-Carver Conversation.” The exhibit is the result of an exchange between Norwalk High School students and participants in NicaPhoto, an after-school education, art and personal development program in Nicaragua. Pictured are Torrance York, Norwalk High School photography instructor, Helen Klisser During, WAC director of visual arts, and Ronnie Maher, founder and director of NicaPhoto, Inc. in front of a favorite diptych. The 6 - 8 p.m. event will feature Nicaraguan rum, hors d’oeuvres from Valencia Luncheria, and wine and cheese. Tickets are available at the door ($50). Proceeds from the evening benefit NicaPhoto, a Norwalk based 501c3 charitable organization. A group of 27 people, mostly from Westport, and headed up by Sam and Sharon Carpenter, recently returned from a week-long visit to NicaPhoto where they worked building an elementary school for the town of Nagarote, Nicaragua.
