Abbott Hermann, a 53-year resident of Westport, died Aug. 2 due to complications from dementia. He was 88.
Born Dec. 26, 1926 in New Brunswick, N.J., he was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y, where he graduated from Erasmus High School in 1944. He attended the University of Buffalo, where he graduated in 1948 with a B.S. in psychology.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. In 1962, he moved with his family from Cedarhurst, L.I. to Westport, where he worked for Ethan Allen Furniture for 18 years as director of store development.
An avid golfer, he served on the board for the Longshore Men’s Golf Association.
He is survived by his wife, Lenore, and sons Michael, with his wife Lisa and grandchild Rebecca of Nederland, Colorado and his son, Mark, with his wife, Christine and grandchildren, Anna and Quincy of New York City. He is also survived by his sister, Renee, and her family of New York City.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 7 at noon at The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield.
