WestportNow.com Image
UPDATE This Duesenberg 1931 Model J, a restored-to-factory authentic car that still retains its matching engine, body, and chassis, was among the highlights of today’s Premier Vehicle and Collectibles Auction at Dragone Classic Cars on Westport’s Post Road West. It sold for $1.25 million to a phone bidder. Also up for bid in the auction, which attracted more than 300, were approximately 100 pieces of related memorabilia and automotive art. The weather was spectacular and the vintage vehicles were among the finest collection available with some of the cars shipped from Europe especially for this event. Peter Dragone began trading in classic cars in 1946. then introduced his sons Manny and George to the business, leading to the founding of Dragone Classic Cars in 1979. George Dragone said of the 46 classic cars in the auction 60 percent sold. He said another auction is planned in October.  (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Larry Untermeyer for WestportNow.com
