10 Westporters Finish Boston Marathon

Ten runners from Westport finished today’s 2017 Boston Marathon.

Geoffrey Kirui won the 121st Boston Marathon, pulling away from three-time U.S. Olympian Galen Rupp with two miles to go to give Kenya its first men’s victory in five years. Edna Kiplagat won the women’s race to complete the Kenyan sweep.

According to official results, Niels Lyng-Olsen, 51, was the top Westport finisher, running the 26.2 miles in 3 hours, 11 minutes, 33 seconds, good for a 3086 overall place. He works in the finance industry.

Second best Westporter’s time was by Kenneth C. Klegar, 47, also a finance industry executive, who finished in 3 hours, 23 minutes, 23 seconds. Third was Barbara B. Lincoln, 40, in 3 hours, 41 minutes, 7 seconds, also the top female Westport finisher. A registered dietitian with private practices in New York City and Westport, she began her running career in high school where she ran cross-country and winter and spring track..

Heather Bauer, 39, of Westport was two second behind Lincoln, finishing in 3 hours, 41 minutes, 9 seconds.

The other Westport finishers: Alan H. Martin, 48, 3 hours, 49 minutes 33 seconds; Adam J. Greenlee, 44, 3 hours, 55 minutes, 52 seconds; Craig Adler, 52, 3 hours, 56 minutes, 23 seconds; Christina Cerrito, 47, 4 hours, 14 minutes, 26 seconds; David S. Atlas, 60, 4 hours, 45 minutes, 57 seconds, and Seth L. Konhelm, 54, 4 hours, 55 minutes, 47 seconds.
