The heads of two committees developing aspects of the Westport downtown master plan pledged today to work together to achieve their goals and not confuse or tire the public with too many meetings on the same subject.
Francis Henkels, chair of the Historic District Commission and the newly formed Village District Steering Committee (VDSC), and Dewey Loselle, chair of the newly formed Downtown Steering Committee (DSC), appeared together before the Board of Selectmen.
Each sought and received approval from the board to contract with two consultant groups hired by each committee to develop aspects of the downtown master plan.
“We understand this has to be a collaborative process,” Henkels said. “Our focus will be on preservation … We have our agenda and we have our direction.
