A three-car crash on I-95 southbound in Westport today sent one vehicle down an embankment on its roof and two persons inside had to be extricated by Westport firefighters, according to reports from the scene.
The accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. between Exit 18 and 17, about three-tenths of a mile past Exit 18 and the Sherwood Island Connector.
The vehicle down the embankment was surrounded by heavy trees and was near some water although water was not involved, the reports said.
Both victims had been extricated by 6:15 a.m. with what one state policeman said were minor injuries. Traffic was backed up to Exit 27 in Bridgeport.
