UPDATE A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Westport and area until midnight.
At 11:07 p.m., the National Weather Service said strong southwest winds produced by earlier thunderstorms that were over New Jersey are now moving across Long Island, eastern sections of New York City, .and areas of Westchester, Fairfield, and New Haven counties closer to Long Island Sound.
These winds may gust up to 45 mph and could down some tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. Connecticut Light and Power Company said four Westport customers were without power late tonight.
These winds may also make driving high profile vehicles difficult, especially on elevated roadways and bridges.
