Westport’s Board of Selectmen today unanimously approved the construction of an electric vehicle charging station behind Town Hall.
“This is another example of Westport taking the lead in this exciting technology,” First Selectman Jim Marpe said.
According to Public Works Director Stephen Edwards, who made the request, the charging station—which will run on the same grid that powers Town Hall—will take up one parking spot near the middle of the rear of the building.
“Hopefully, it won’t have a dramatic impact on the town’s budget,” said Marpe, adding that added electric bill would be “our donation” to green efforts.
