Stamford Superior Court Judge Richard Comerford on Friday sentenced the two men convicted of beating and robbing a man they offered a ride from the East Norwalk train station to Westport last summer.
Norwalk resident Peter Ferraro, 24, a convicted felon said to have masterminded the plot, was sentenced to seven years in prison and five months probation, The Hour newspaper of Norwalk reported. Andrew Frank, 23, received four-and-a-half years to be followed by three years probation.
The victim, a Chinese immigrant who has a terminal illness and was unable to be at the sentencing, was represented by family members who received apologies from the Frank and Ferraro, according to The Hour.
Frank and Ferraro turned themselves into the Westport Police Department on June 22, 2013 following a police sweep after the victim had been dropped off in town. They were arraigned two days later in Norwalk Superior Court, charged with first-degree kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Ferraro was additionally charged with credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card, and sixth-degree larceny. (See WestportNow June 24, 2013)
