Meet Alaska

Alaska. Westport Animal Control

Alaska is a 3-year-old powder puff Chinese crested mix rescued from a hoarding/back yard breeding situation in CT.  He is a darling and affectionate little guy.  Coming from years spent in a basement and a crate, he is doing VERY well.  He enjoys the company of other dogs, eating good food and napping on comfy pillows.  He is being fostered in the home of a WASA volunteer.  The smile in the photo is a result of being groomed and feeling so much better!  We feel he would do best in a relatively quiet environment with older children.  For additional information about Alaska, please send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 203-557-0361.

He was rescued by a local woman who couldn’t stand to see him euthanized in a Manhattan shelter and scooped him up to safety.

Sweet Belle Needs A Forever Home

Belle. Little Black Dog Rescue

Belle couldn’t be a sweeter girl!  A petite Flat-Coated Retriever and maybe Border Collie, she loves to cuddle and loves to be loved.

She was tied up for the first part of her life (she is 18 months now) but her silky hair has grown back where it was once bare neck skin. She is shy at first and needs time to trust, but once she does her heart is yours. She loves the park and swimming, chasing birds and is great off-leash. She is a very special girl.

Meet Lionel

Lionel. Westport Animal Control

The sweetest, gentlest dogs don’t always fit in your lap, and we have the dog to prove it!  Lionel is a 120-pound mastiff-pit mix that lost his home when his Connecticut family lost theirs.  He is very affectionate, and we hope we can find him a home soon as he misses his family tremendously.  According to his previous owners, he is good with children and other dogs.  He is very housebroken, neutered and up to date on his vet care.  We love this big galumph, especially when he drinks water.  He sticks his whole face in the bowl and comes out smiling with his face dripping.  For additional information about Lionel, please call Westport Animal Shelter Advocates (WASA) at 203-557-0361 or send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Say Hello to Bat

Meet Bat. Westport Animal Control

Bat is a 6 to 8-year-old chihuahua mix rescued from a CT animal control facility that is now being fostered by a WASA volunteer.  Life had not been good to this little guy when he was kicked to the curb.  He was very thin, flea-infested and dehydrated, but very forgiving and his spirit not broken.  He is enjoying the good life now with good food, exercise, play time with other dogs. He has turned into one handsome little pup.  He loves walks and chasing the tennis ball (very funny), he is constantly presenting his foster with photo opportunities because of his comical nature.  Bat would do best in an adult home or a home with older children that will give him space until he is comfortable.  He is good with other dogs if they are not in his face constantly.  Bat is neutered, up to date on his vet care and just had his teeth cleaned.  For additional information about Bat, please send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 203-557-0361.  To complete an application, please visit and click on Adopt to bring up the online application.

Prince Michael Is An Indoor Cat

Prince Michael
Prince Michael. Connecticut Humane Society

Meet Prince Michael! This young man is possibly one of the most affectionate and loving cats you’ll ever meet! He absolutely enjoys being petted and will not only tell you he wants you to pet him, but will head butt your hands and legs so that you will cater to him. His experience with children is unknown but it is possible that he would enjoy the company of children who will shower him with tons of love and play time. Prince Michael is FIV positive and MUST—for his safety and the safety of other cats—remain an indoor cat. He can ONLY live with cats who are also FIV positive and would prefer a home without dogs. Lexus Needs Another Home

Lexus. Save Our Strays Inc.
Lexus is a sweet, 2 year old, male tabby cat who seems to be pretty mellow. He has beautiful bright yellow eyes and perfect tabby markings. Lexus is neutered and up to date on all shots. He really deserves a loving home so please come in to meet him!

UPDATE: Lexus recently went to a foster home. Unfortunately the family was hoping that one of the family members who was allergic to cats was now better and they were not so Lexus had to come back to the shelter, they said this. “...I want to make sure you all know is that Lexus (or “Lex” or “Lexi” as the family has already taken to calling him) is an amazing cat. ...He is brave, curious, affectionate - we are calling him the quintessential cat. After a couple of hours of chilling out on his own, getting accustomed to the noises and quirks of our household, he ventured out and about to check out the family & the environment. He started coming up to us, looking to curl up on lap or otherwise nearby one of us, sought after petting, etc. He started chatting with us by late last night as well, meowing away (not too much at all, just occasionally enough to let you know he’s nearby). He loves exploring, and had a great time finding closets and bookcases, among other little nooks and crannies. He did wonderfully with the kids - allowing petting, not getting scared by some classic loud little boy banging (curious & cautious, but not scared), and when he had enough, he simply left - no aggression in the slightest. He took to the litter box without a qualm, communicated with us when he was hungry - he really is the perfect cat. I hope a family without the allergies we have in this household shows up looking for a perfect cat - and finds Lex.”
