The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Westport and area until 2:15 a.m. Thursday.
At 10:10 p.m., 1 to 3 inches of rain had fallen across the area, the Weather Service said. The weather station at Westport Fire Headquarters measured 2 inches for the day just before midnight.
Moderate to periods of heavy rain is expected through the overnight hours. Rainfall rates up to an inch per hour will be possible during this time.
The combination of the rain with elevated tidal levels at the time of high tide will lead to widespread flooding, the Weather Service said. High tide in Westport is 1:05 a.m. Thursday.
