WestportNow Teardown of the Day: 29 Old Mill Road
An application for a permit to demolish the house at Westport’s 29 Old Mill Road in the Compo Mill section is in process. Built in 1910, the two-story conventional has 896 square feet and is situated on a .04-acre property. Because the house was built more than 50 years ago, the application will be reviewed by the Westport Historic District Commission. According to town records, the owner said the house was a victim of Storm Sandy which made it uninhabitable. “Water was 4 feet deep in the front so the cellar and oil furnace were flooded as well as over 2 feet of water in the living area,” the owner said. No misprint. Visionappraisal has it as that. All the lots in that part of Old Mill are very small. They originally were fishing shacks.
