Westport Unemployment Rate 6.4 Percent in October
Westport’s unemployment rate in October was 6.4 percent, up from 6.1 per cent in September, the Connecticut Department of Labor said today.
The rate returned to what it was in August. The lowest this year was 5.3 percent in April.
The department said the number of Westport unemployed in October was 801, up from 763 in September. The October labor force in Westport numbered 2,568, up from 12,532 in September.
There were 11,767 employed in October, down slightly from 11,769 employed in September, the department said. A year ago in October, Westport’s unemployment rate was 5.7 percent.
