‘We Had to Somehow Acknowledge Newtown’
Westporters Tom and Stephanie Ryan tonight had a Christmas Eve gathering of family and friends at their Old Road home like they do every year. But this year was different. “This year we had to somehow acknowledge the tragedy in Newtown,” said Stephanie. So they placed 26 luminaries on a walkway outside. “It seems that when there is a tragedy we all say ‘there are no words to express how we feel,’ but this time it’s actually the case, at least for us,” she said. “So as we gave thanks for being together, we were all aware of the 26 luminaries outside.” Stephanie Ryan for WestportNow.com
