Two Cars Strike Coyote on Merritt, Drivers Unhurt
The drivers of two cars heading northbound on the Merritt Parkway today just north of Exit 42 in Westport said they struck a coyote in the roadway, causing them to lose control of their cars, one of which burst into flames. Neither driver was hurt in the 7:40 a.m. incident, said Deputy Chief Robert Kepchar. He said firefighters managed to retrieve a wallet from the glove compartment of the burned car with its contents, including $1,000 in cash and credit cards, intact.
