Westport’s Splash Restaurant & Bar appears to have closed.
The shorefront haunt at Westport’s Longshore Park since 1995 has shut its doors for good, according to a woman who answered the phone there this week.
Three weeks ago, Teresa De Caro, whose brother owns the business, insisted that the restaurant had not shut down but was closed for maintenance, plumbing and electrical repairs. (See WestportNow Oct. 22, 2014) She also said that it would reopen Oct. 21.
When it did not reopen, she said the electrical repairs “are taking longer than expected.” She did not say when the work would be completed. Efforts to reach her today or anyone else at the De Caro group headquarters were unsuccessful.
Several anonymous emails to WestportNow said the restaurant had closed.
Splash is owned by Angelo De Caro, CEO of the De Caro Restaurant Group and a former partner of Goldman Sachs. The restaurant group also owns Baang Cafe and Bar, “an Asian East meet’s West fusion concept in Greenwich,” according to the company’s website.
A call to Baang today said it was a non-working number.
