Sixth Place in Beijing for Saugatuck Rowing Twins
![]()
The 2008 Olympics in Beijing are over for Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the 26-year-old Greenwich identical twins who learned to row and trained at Westport’s Saugatuck Rowing Club. They ended up placing sixth overall today in the men’s pair event. To get to the finals, they had to make it through two rounds of heats, a semifinal, and then the grand final. They are shown as they placed second, passing Italy, in the semifinal to advance to the grand final. The twins were 28.14 seconds off the pace of gold medalists Drew Ginn and Duncan Free of Australia, who beat them in the semifinals. The silver medal went to the Canadian boat of David Calder and Scott Frandsen and the bronze was won by Nathan Twaddle and George Bridgewater of New Zealand.
