Rotary Four-Way Speech Winners
![]()
Staples High School senior Michael Holtz, 18, (l) was awarded first place today in the Westport Rotary Club Four-Way Speech Contest held at Westport’s Town Hall auditorium. Holtz spoke about the Dream Act and its goal to grant conditional permanent residency to certain illegal aliens. Second place went to Everett Sussman (r), a 15-year-old sophomore, and third place to senior Andrew Bowles, 18. Sussman and Bowles are repeat finalists from last year when Bowles took the top prize. Holtz advances to the Rotary District semifinals. The speech content requires each student to integrate the Rotary four-way questions into their remarks. The questions ask (1) “Is it the truth? (2) Is it fair to all concerned? (3) Will it build goodwill and better friendships? (4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned?” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
