David Pogue, the Westport high tech guru and New York Times personal tech columnist, told the Westport Rotary Club today there are so many new ideas and apps hitting the Internet every day that it is even difficult for him to keep up. Among his range of phone apps that he refers to as “augmented reality,” he listed Retina, Ocarina, Word Lens, and ones that remotely control thermostats and start cars. He said the Internet has moved to Web 2.0 programs which he said include Flickr, “which sold for $1.7 billion within 12 months after its launch,” “domystuff.com (people bid the lowest price to do jobs for you,” and Prosper.com where a business entrepreneur can raise money at low interest rates and investors can get high rates.
