Norwalk Hospital Signs Affiliation Agreement
Norwalk Hospital and the Western Connecticut Health Network, which includes hospitals in Danbury and New Milford, took another step today to combine operations.
An announcement said the two signed a final agreement to affiliate and, pending regulatory approvals, they will inaugurate the affiliation later this year.
The new organization will include some 784 beds that will be governed by a single board of directors and a unified mission “to promote the health and well being of people in the communities it serves,” the announcement said.
Today’s signing follows several months of discussions about how the new organization will operate.
The new organization will be led by John M. Murphy, president and CEO, Western Connecticut Health Network. Dan DeBarba, Jr.,will remain as president and CEO of Norwalk Hospital and become executive vice president of the new network.
Erv Shames, a current member of the Norwalk Hospital board of trustees, will lead the new board of directors.
