‘Neither Snow Nor Rain Nor Heat…’
![]()
A mail carrier makes his rounds today in the snow on Westport’s Norwalk Avenue in the Compo Beach area. While the Postal Service has no official motto, many people cite the inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City: “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

Congratulations to our dedicated post office employees for delivering our mail during this monster storm. I love going to the post office, diminished and cramped as it is, to greet the folk who work there and say hello to fellow Westporters. Impromptu gatherings at the post office are part of the small time life I cherish.
