Longshore Trees Come Down

Work began today on removal of 15 trees along the entryway to Westport’s Longshore Club Park. Plans to cut down the trees provoked a public outcry that prompted a delay ordered by First Selectman Jim Marpe. But after a review, he said he agreed with the tree warden’s recommendation that they were beyond their useful life, posed a threat to safety, and ought to be removed.
