Doug Mcdonald tells tonight’s Historic District Commission Preservation Awards ceremony at Westport Town Hall that his 1934 International-Style honoree house at 118 Roseville Road, once home to eccentric pianist, composer, comedian and actor Oscar Levant, is unique in that it has no boiler. He said an extensive reconstruction incorporated concepts of the International Passivhaus Institute for extremely well insulated and energy efficient homes. No matter the weather, he said the interior temperature is almost constantly 73 degrees. He said when his son comes home from school, the temperature rises by one degree because a human body gives off 1,000 BTUs of heat. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
