Gerald Page, 80
Gerald “Jerry” Dunn Page, a former Westport resident, died Oct. 3 at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Ga. He was 80.
He was born Nov. 18, 1931 to Kyle M. and Lois D. Page in Minneapolis. He raised his family in Westport before retiring to The Landings on Skidaway Island in Savannah in 1995.
He served in the U.S. Navy, completing Submarine School as a “dolphin” and was assigned to the USS Tang. He received the Good Conduct Medal for Service ending in 1954 and the National Service Defense Medal. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration.
He had a corporate career with American Can Company and Simkin Industries. He was a lifelong avid golfer as a member of The Landings in Savannah and The Patterson Club in Fairfield.
He was a member of the Coastal Conservation Association and active in the Skidaway Island Chapter where he received the award of Volunteer or the Year in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sheila Page, of Savannah; his brother George (Marsha) of Hatboro, Pa.; his daughters Pamela Page of Lakeland, Fla., Patricia Page of Milford, and Phyllis (Tom) Maffuid of Old Saybrook; grandchildren Nicole Page-Fort, Gabi Page-Fort, R.P. Lopez, Tim Maffuid, Ben Page-Fort, Alex Lopez, Samantha Maffuid and Zach Maffuid; great grandchildren Bobby & Zoe.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Westport.
The family suggests any remembrances be made in his memory to the Coastal Conservation Association, Skidaway Island Chapter, c/o Channing Smith, 16 Captain Crossing, Savannah, GA 31411, or a charity of your choice.
