The driver of a cement truck escaped injury late today near 4 Peach Lot Place off North Avenue when his vehicle pulled down primary power and cable lines which landed on the truck. According to a firefighter at the scene, the cables fell on to the truck while the driver was still behind the wheel. CL&P workers were summoned to the scene to shut off electric power so that the driver could safely exit. The force of the contact with utility lines caused the utility pole to break.
