Flood Advisory Issued
The National Weather Service in Upton N,Y. has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Westport and area until 11:30 a.m.
It said National Weather Service Doppler radar at 8:26 a.m. indicated showers producing locally moderate to heavy rain along with a few thunderstorms tracking north from the Bronx into the lower Hudson Valley.
Rainfall rates up to 1 inch per hour will produce minor flooding of poor drainage and urban areas and some of the smaller rivers and streams may rise to near bankfull, the Weather Service said.
Minor flooding means that although streams and creeks may rise out of their banks, property damage will be minimal. Inconveniences can be expected but the flooding will not be immediately life threatening.
