Dodge-A-Cop Event to be Held on Friday
Staples High School students and Westport police officers will take part Friday in a Dodge-A-Cop event at the school.
The 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. event is sponsored by the Westport Youth Commission, the Staples Teen Awareness Group, and the Westport Police-Youth Collaborative.
The event featuring mixed teams of officers and teens and will benefit the annual holiday toy drive.
Students can pre-register at Staples during lunch shifts or by contacting .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Dodge-a-Cop is one of many Westport Police-Youth Collaborative events in which young people are invited to interact with police in a non-enforcement capacity.
“It’s is a way for high school kids to have some fun with officers while raising funds for other kids this holiday season.” said Elaine Daignault, youth services coordinator for the Human Services Department.
“Kids can form their own teams of five for $20 or register as individuals for $5, and organizers will assign a police officer to play on each team.”
