Charles L. Klein, 69
Charles L. Klein, husband to Peggy A. Keane-Klein of Norwalk, the Westport Tax Collector, died Feb. 12 at home. He was 69.
Born Nov. 17, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was son of Beatrice and John Klein.
He worked as a corporate credit manager for several years before buying his own carpet cleaning business and then worked as the head custodian for the Westport School District.
He served in the U.S. Army during from 1962 to 1964 during the Vietnam War as a military police officer.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Peggy A. Keane-Klein and his children, Jason T. Klein and his wife Carol, Robert A. Klein and his wife Stephanie, Jonathan Charles Klein, Ryan Velazquez, Christopher Burkhalter and his wife Jennifer, Tyler Klein, Rory Klein and his grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Klein, age 9, Robert Justin Klein, age 8, Andrew Owen Klein, age 3, Jason T. Klein, Jr., age 2.
Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Collins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Wounded Warrior Foundation and/or Wilton Hospice of Fairfield CT.
