Gov. Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Bridgewater Associates, the Westport-based hedge fund, intends to move its headquarters to Stamford.
At a news conference in Stamford, he said construction of a $750 million corporate headquarters will retain the 1,225 employees based in Westport and create up to 1,000 high level jobs over the next 10 years.
Malloy said the company will receive economic benefits from the state as part of his “Next Five” program.
Bridgewater is Westport’s largest private employer with offices spread over five locations, including 1 Glendenning Place-Ford Road, Nyala Farms office complex on Greens Farms Road, and a building on Riverside Avenue.
