Bridge Street Bridge Closed for Repairs

The Department of Transportation has announced that today from 10:30 a.m.. to 1 p.m. the Bridge Street Bridge, formally the William F. Cribari Bridge, will be closed for emergency repairs.

The Westport Police Department is advising motorist and residents to use the Post Road Bridge, formally the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge, as an alternate route.

Why have the names of the bridges been changed?

The bridges were named in honor of 2 individuals who were ver supportive and important to Westport. The Town should continue to name them the Ruth Steinkraus and William Cribari bridges.

...“formally,” not “formerly,” folks. (There has been no change. The article merely refers to the bridges both by their formal and their colloquial names.)

The article specifically states “formerly the William Cribari Bridge”, and “formerly the Ruth Steinkraus Bridge”. What does that intimate?
