Staples Sr. on Cyber-Bullying: ‘Moral Compass’ Needed

A Staples High School senior who authored a New York Magazine article about a short but hurtful spate of cyber-bullying at his school in April (see WestportNow April 28, 2014) told the Westport Rotary Club today that students need to find a “moral compass” in dealing with such incidents and realize there are “ethical boundaries.” Will Haskell, who is president of Staples Players, said the answer is not to take away smartphones from students or to have intense parent oversight, but to “deal with this is head on” by making students realize the “unknown ramifications” of such acts.
