Linda Dohanos of Monroe, granddaughter of famed Westport artist Stevan Dohanos, was selling her stoneware animal ornaments today at the Westport Historical Society Craft Show. Her table was adjacent to her grandfather’s “Honor Roll” painting (r), part of the Historical Society’s current “Framing the Past, Present, and Future” exhibit. It was a December 1943 cover of The Saturday Evening Post and the first of 136 Post covers created by Dohanos. The painting returned to Westport in 2005 after a lengthy odyssey (see WestportNow Aug. 1, 2005) and most recently has hung in Westport First Selectman Gordon Joseloff’s office as one of his favorites. Dohanos died in 1994 at his Westport home at the age of 87. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Phyllis Groner for WestportNow.com
