West Bank Parking Lot Reduced to One Hour
The Board of Selectmen today today approved a request to reduce from two hours to one hour the parking limit in a 15-space municipal lot behind National Hall near the popular Bartacco Restaurant on the west bank of the Saugatuck River.
The request was made by the owners of the nearby National Hall complex who said retailers in the area wanted to be sure to have spaces available for their customers.
First Selectman Gordon Joseloff said he was concerned that restaurant patrons would be inconvenienced by having to move their cars after one hour, but a representative of the owners said the restaurant tenants had no objection to the change.
Police Chief Dale Call also said his department supported the change but acknowledged that enforcement of the parking limit would likely be sporadic on that side of the river and observance of the limit would often be on “the honor system.”
It was also pointed out that restaurant patrons desiring longer parking could use a decked parking lot across Wilton Road where parking is unlimited.

I do not know anything about the parking situation in that location or the businesses nearby, but it makes no sense to me to initiate a new law and have the Police Chief immediately say it will only be enforced sporadically.
And a sign re the decked parking would be nice. I had no idea that wasn’t a private lot.
