Temple Israel Sets Feb. 3 Forum on Gun Violence
Westport’s Temple Israel will host a public forum on gun violence on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.
The Social Action Committee has invited local politicial leaders and a representative of a group seeking tighter gun control laws to participate in the public discussion, an announcement said.
It said the event “offers the opportunity for members of the community to hear about the national, state and local responses to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy and understand how they can lend their voices to the conversation.”
Invited guests include Congressman Jim Himes, State Reps. Kim Fawcett, Jonathan Steinberg and Gerald Fox, State Sens. Beth Bye and Toni Boucher, Westport First Selectman Gordon Joseloff, Weston First Selectwoman Gayle Weinstein, Mike Lawlor, Connecticut Under Secretary for Criminal Justice Policy and Planning, and Lisa Labella, vice president, Connecticut Against Gun Violence.
