Three eighth grade Westport PAL Football players—Louis Colosimo, Ryan Fitton and Nick Roehm—have been selected along with athletes from around the state to the Southwest Connecticut All Star team to play in the FBU (Football University) Youth National Football Championship Tournament.
Football University (www.footballuniversity.org) is an invitation-only, one-of-a-kind football training experience for the nation’s most elite youth and high school players, training football athletes grades 7 - 12 nationally through its camps, and sponsorship of the U.S. Army High School All-American Bowl, Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl, and Youth National Championship Tournament.
The Connecticut team, led by Head Coach Ron Marsilio, also from the Westport PAL Football program, won its Round 1 game in Greenwich on Saturday, beating New York 35-6, and won its second round game on Sunday, beating Long Island 28-0. Colosimo is the starting quarterback, Fitton a starting tight end, and Roehm a starting tackle.
The team will head to Columbus, Ohio this weekend to face a powerful Massachusetts team on Saturday, and either the Maryland or Chicago team on Sunday. A win in both games earns them the right to play in the National Championship game in San Antonio, Texas on Jan. 4.
