Navigating through the aftermath of Storm Sandy in terms of insurance, state and federal aid and loans will be the thrust of two information sessions, one with town, federal and business officials in Westport Wednesday and another with U.S. Congressman Jim Himes at Norwalk Community College (NCC) on Saturday.
Sponsored by William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance, the session set for Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., will be held at Christ & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 75 Church Lane.
According to a statement from Ravies officials, the event is for homeowners who “need direction on the process of picking up the pieces after the storm or just need to have a few questions answered.”
Panel officials will include Fire Chief and Emergency Operations Director Andrew Kingsbury; representatives from FEMA; and John Frederick, who heads residential disaster loans for the Small Business Administration (SBA).
Also present will be Mel Barr, a land use consultant, Sharon Jones, a real estate attorney, appraiser Nora King, and Ravies insurance broker Robert Reade and mortgage banker John Grosso.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Himes, along with Fairfield, Westport, Darien, Greenwich, Bridgeport and Norwalk officials, plans a home elevation information session with FEMA and SBA officials in NCC’s Pepsico Theater.
According to Himes, the session will outline services including individual assistance for homeowners and physical disaster and economic injury loans.
He adds the event will include a break out session for home and business owners to meet one-on-one with representatives from FEMA, the SBA, the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and other state, and federal agencies to discuss individual cases.
