Workers from Stratford-based Encon Solar Energy today installed solar panels on the roof of the recently renovated eastbound station house at Westport’s Metro-North station. The solar panels will power the interior of the station house as well as 20 electric vehicle charging stations outside. Parking permit holders with electric vehicles will be able to access the prime parking spaces when the new Westport Solar Transportation Hub opens in December. The irony of opening a solar powered charging station during the month that the southern solstice occurs is absolutely priceless.
