Fire Damages Attic and Roof on Washington Avenue

A fire damaged an attic and roof today of a home at 53 Washington Ave. Three occupants inside at the time escaped without injury. The homeowner told firefighters he had started a fire in the fireplace but was unaware that the fire had spread to the attic and roof until alerted by a neighbor. It was a neighbor who made the the 911 call. The Fire Marshal’s Office was seeking a cause. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Contributed photo
