Westport’s Metro-North Station Gets Solar Panels

Workers from Stratford-based Encon Solar Energy today installed solar panels on the roof of the eastbound station house at Westport’s Metro-North station.The installation comes in advance of Saturday’s electric car demonstration day open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The solar panels will power the interior of the station house as well as 20 electric vehicle charging stations outside. Parking permit holders with electric vehicles will be able to access the prime parking spaces when the new Westport Solar Transportation Hub opens in December.
