Brain Power at Work
Scenes from today’s 13th annual Crossword Puzzle Competition at the Westport Public Library. Each contestant had to complete three different crossword puzzles within an allotted time of 20 minutes per puzzle. Some astonishingly speedy solvers completed their puzzles in just a few minutes. Contestants were judged on speed and accuracy. The three fastest and most accurate contestants were selected as finalists to compete for a staged run-off in front of all the other contestants. The final winner was the first person to correctly solve this puzzle as determined by Will Shortz, puzzle editor of The New York Times. Larry Untermeyer for WestportNow.com
