UPDATE Two men robbed the TD Bank on Post Road East today and then led police on a high speed pursuit that ended in a wrong way crash on the Merritt Parkway followed by a foot pursuit in the area of Newtown Turnpike and Exit 41.
Both suspects were later taken into custody in a wooded area near the Merritt Parkway just over the Norwalk line, police said. Officers found cash in their possession and items in their car linking them to the robbery.
One person in the Merritt crash, which involved at least two other vehicles, suffered minor injuries, police said tonight in a second news release on the incident. The suspect vehicle also hit a guard rail.
The robbery occurred at about 9:40 a.m. at 1111 Post Road East, and police soon after spotted the suspect vehicle on Post Road East at Compo Road. No weapon was shown at the bank, police said.
